Job description:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for all food preparation in accordance with

policies, laws and regulations as directed by the Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef and Sous Chef. Provides quality food service at all times. Has knowledge of proper food preparation and handling techniques. Ability to properly handle knives and kitchen equipment. Cooperative and friendly attitude toward residents, guests, and other employees. Able to work well independently given proper direction and delegate responsibility as directed by named supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Comprehensive knowledge of food preparation and handling techniques.

2. Comprehensive knowledge of safety and sanitation rules and practices. (Serve Safe Certification preferred).

3. Shows the ability to cope with problems. Refers unusual problems to named supervisors.

4. Responsible for food preparations including accompaniments and garnishes.

5. Correctly prepares and creatively assembles all food products according to standards set by Executive Chef and said Supervisors including written and unwritten recipes for dinning room service, health care service, employee service, and special functions.

6. Does advanced preparation as indicated.

7. Serves food items as needed.

8. Advise supervisor of low inventory items; assist in receiving items and taking inventory as required.

9. Maintain a clean, neat and well-organized work area, including but not limited to reach-ins, walk-ins and counters. May assist by performing ware washer or other kitchen duties as needed or assigned.

8. Prepare and cook orders for daily operations.

9. Complete food temperature checks each meal. Tastes for quality and consistency of all food items prepared.

10. Completes preparation sheets, labels and dates all food items properly from the beginning and until the end of each shift.


11. Insures and thoroughly cleans all work areas and all equipment used in food preparation and handling.

12. Follow safety and sanitation rules and practices and become familiar with H.A.C.C.A.P. Program.

13.Ensures all food preparation and assembly is done in accordance with established procedures.

14. Demonstrates knowledge of fire safety procedures and assists with the evacuation of residents to a safe location in the event of fire or other emergency.

15. Participates in disaster relief program in the event of disaster.

16. Performs other duties as assigned. Assist in all areas of other kitchen duties including but not limited to ware washing and performing tasked assigned to any and all positions hired into the department.

17. Cooperates with staff of other departments in performing job duties.

18. Must take necessary precautions and follow correct procedures for lifting and bending also displaying proper knife handling and knowledge of proper equipment use.

19. Able to work well independently given proper direction.

20. Provides clean safe and neat work environment for residents, self and staff.

COMMENTS:
The work week is generally 40 hours per week on a year round basis: however the position requires a willingness and flexibility in work hours when necessary to fulfill job responsibilities, tasks, skills effort or working conditions associated with the position.
