Korean Barbecue Beef

Ingredients

For 6 people ()

  • 1 pound beef sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 0.25 cups sesame oil
  • 0.25 cups soy sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 2 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine
  • 2 tablespoon spring onions, chopped
  • 0.25 cups white sugar

Directions

  1. It’s good to leave some fat on the steaks for flavor, but remove some of the fat from the steak and thinly slice.
  2. Add rice wine, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, soy sauce, spring onion and sugar in a small bowl and mix really well with a spoon.
  3. Dip the beef slices into the marinade and coat really well. Allow the beef to marinate for at least 1 hour, or even overnight if possible so the beef really develops the flavors from the marinade.
  4. Preheat a lightly oiled BBQ plate or grill. When very hot add the beef and brown on all sides until the meat is well sealed. Remove, wrap in foil and cook on the barbecue, turning occasionally for a further  15-20 minutes, depending on how rare or well done you like your meat.
  5. Allow the korean bbq beef to cool down for 10 minutes before serving. When plated using some of the marinade is delicious as a sauce.
